CAREER DAY

Meet, network, and learn from creative professionals in a variety of fields including game design, architecture, art therapy, fashion design, graphic design, photography, and more! COLLEGE FAIR

Families and students are invited to Marwen’s annual College Fair Event! Meet representatives from local and national art schools, four-year universities, and community colleges. You’ll get valuable information about admissions, programs, scholarships and more!

SPRING BREAK COLLEGE VISIT INFO SESSION

Marwen is visiting colleges over CPS spring break, April 6-10! Come find out about each school and pick the right colleges for you to visit! We'll go over the majors, degrees, and unique programs offered at each school. By attending this event, you'll get priority consideration for a spot on the trips! This event is open to high school students and families.

Grades 9 – 12 Saturday, March 14 4 – 6pm
PARENT AND FAMILY FORUM: FAFSA WORKSHOP

The FAFSA application is one of the only ways to access money for your higher education! A financial aid expert will take you step-by-step through the FAFSA application and answer all your questions. We’re encouraging everyone to complete the FAFSA by February 15! You MUST bring the required documents to complete the FAFSA forms. Please call Sabba Elahi at 312.944.2418 ext. 204 for more information. Registration is open to families and students.

COLLEGE BLUEPRINT

Teaching Artist: Sarah Atlas

Do you want to learn more about your college options? This series of four workshops are a fun, creative way to begin your college research or start your application process!  You’ll leave with knowledge about the college application process, financial aid and scholarships, and hear from Marwen alumni in college!

CAREERS INSIDE OUT

Teaching Artist: Sabba Elahi

This series of three workshops will show you strategies, tools, and resources for job applications and career building! Whether you’re thinking about a career in the arts or not, these valuable skills in networking, interviewing, and resume building are crucial. This workshop might even help you land a summer job!

Grades 10 – 12 Mondays, January 26, February 2 and 9 5:00 – 7:30pm
ACT II: REVIEW AND STRATEGY

Learn ACT test-taking strategies and get an in-depth look at the essay section to help you improve your score! You may attend this workshop even if you did not take the practice test, and you’ll receive your scores back if you did.

Grades 10 – 12 Saturday, February 28 10:00am – 12:00pm
ACT I: PRACTICE TEST

Prepare for college testing by taking a practice ACT test. You’ll take all four sections and the practice test will be treated just like the real thing! Please remember to bring two soft-lead pencils and a non-graphing calculator for the math section.

PARENT AND FAMILY FORUM: STUDYING ART IN COLLEGE

Is your student thinking majoring in the visual arts? Want to know more about your college options in the arts and what it takes to create a portfolio for admissions and merit scholarships? In this workshop, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of studying art in college, the application process, and how to build your best portfolio.

Registration is open to families and students.

In this workshop, you’ll meet with experts who will share their knowledge of high schools in Chicago, including selective enrollment schools, charter schools, high schools with strong art programs, and what students and families can be doing now to prepare for college!
