Marwen

Marwen is extending a unique outreach opportunity for teachers with students who are eligible for our free visual art programs for 6^th through 12^th graders. We seek teachers who are good communicators and will be thoughtful in selection of students for this experience. We are offering 15 schools the opportunity to bring selected groups of students to Marwen in 2013 to experience art making in our professional studios.  Each workshop will provide a 90-minute studio art experience for up to 24 students. These workshops are not limited to art teachers, as we know there are many schools without visual art programs.

For those teachers who are accepted, Marwen will:

• Design a hands-on workshop relevant to your students
• Arrange and pay for approved CPS bus service to-and-from the school for 8 of the 15 schools selected
• Provide all materials for up to 24 students
• Include an outreach presentation about our free after-school program for students in grades 6 - 12

The school/contact teacher is expected to:

• Handle all permission forms
• Arrange for sub coverage for selected teachers
• Communicate as needed with Marwen via e-mail regarding the details of your visit
• Make necessary contact/arrangements with the bus company if your school can provide the transportation
• Select students in grades 6 – 12 who are capable of sustained engagement in a 90-minute studio experience, and have an interest in learning about art-making
• Select a weekday morning, with earliest pick-up from the school at 9am and workshop completed by noon
• Accompany the students
• Complete a short evaluation form after the experience
